Odor Sensing System

Odor sensing system, called often "electronic nose" or artificial olfaction, uses responses of broadly tuned gas sensors and pattern recogntion technique to distinguish between different odors. Imagine you want to identify wines...

Our odor sensing systems rely mainly on two platforms: Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM) and spherical Surface Acoustic Wave, Ball-SAW sensors. Both QCM and Ball-SAW sensors need to be "activated" by coating with chemically interactive material. We have been stydying various methods for deposition of such interactive materials.
